Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP)

The Aria Group Mental Health Services employ Licensed Qualified Mental Health Professionals to oversee staff that work directly with clients in the field to ensure that they are prepared, trained and well equipped to assist QMHP’s and LMHP S/R’s when working directly with clients. The goal is to have a healthy and positive work relationship. Licensed Mental Health Professionals work diligently to assist the QMHPs with finding resources and connecting the client to providers available to them in the community. "Mental health professional" means a person who by education and experience is professionally qualified and licensed in Virginia to provide counseling interventions designed to facilitate an individual's achievement of human development goals and remediate mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders and associated distresses which interfere with mental health and development.

Qualified Mental Health Professional Adult (QMHP-A)

A Qualified Mental Health Professional Adult is defined as a person in the human services field who is trained and experienced in providing psychiatric or mental health services to individuals who have a mental illness. The goal of a QMHP A is to provide a model of appropriate behavior, skills training in communication, anger management, peer relations, daily living, problem solving and impulse control. The QMHP A should engage in care coordination and coordination with all known and connected providers. The QMHP A should provide psychoeducation and medication education to client’s.

Licensed Mental Health Professional Type Resident or Supervisee (LMHP R/S)

A Licensed Mental Health Professional Type (Resident or Supervisee) is defined as an individual who has submitted a supervisory contract and has received board approval to provide clinical services in social work or counseling under supervision. The board’s definition is the application of social work principles and methods in performing comprehensive assessments and diagnoses based on a recognized manual of mental and emotional disorders or recognized system of problem definition, preventive and early intervention services and treatment services, including but not limited to psychotherapy and counseling for mental disorders, substance abuse, marriage and family dysfunction, and problems caused by social and psychological stress or health impairment.

Qualified Mental Health Professional Trainee (QMHP-T)

A Qualified Mental Health Professional Trainee (QMHP-T) is defined as a person who is receiving supervised training to qualify as a qualified mental health professional and is registered with the Board. QMHP'-T’s can provide the same duties and services as a QMHP A however, they have to be directly supervised by a QMHP, LMHP R/S or LMHP.
